What is the NCBTMB version of the course? There are two versions of this course, the basic version that does not offer Continuing Education (CE) credit and the NCBTMB version which offers 12 CE hours. NCBTMB stands for NationalCertification Board of Therapeutic Massage andBodywork. The NCBTMB is a non-profit United States corporation that, among other services, approves training programs that provide CE hours for massage professionals. Many
US states require licensed practitioners to complete a specified number of hours of continuing education to maintain their license. If you are not practicing in a U.S. state or Canadian province that requires these additional hours of training, you probably do not need to pay for this registration.
If you purchased the NCBTMB version of this course, you will need to take additional steps to receive your 12 CE hours and Certificate of Completion.
- Review and practice each section of the course, including the quizzes at the end of each lesson.
- Complete an additional online exam. Read the instructions carefully. It is a multiple choice examination and students can access the online course material at any time for reference
- Complete the course evaluation required by NCBTMB.
After you successfully complete the exam and the evaluation, we will email your official certificate documenting the completion of 12 CE hours.
Do I need a
massage chair to take this course?No. While the video lessons all demonstrate using a professional massage chair, one of the videos in the Bonus
Material section demonstrates how to perform the whole sequence using just a table top and a standard chair or stool.
How complicated is the
anatomy?Although this course was originally taught as a weekend seminar for bodywork professionals who already know the major bones and muscles, the instructional materials included are detailed enough for anyone to learn a seated massage. If you have no previous experience with muscles and bones, you can review the Anatomical Terms PDF in the Important Basics section of the course.
